SASOM defines a Brand New watch as a watch that has never been worn or used, remains in factory condition, and has not been previously owned in any way that results in signs of use.
Brand New watch:
- Shows no signs of wearing or use and remains in factory condition.
- May have protective stickers or films intact where applicable for the model (e.g. on the caseback, bracelet links, or clasp).
- Comes with the original box, warranty card, receipt, manual, extra bracelet links, and factory-issued accessories as supplied by the manufacturer. The accessory set may vary by model/brand and according to what the seller specifies in the listing.
- Has never undergone servicing, repair, polishing, or parts replacement.
- Has no modifications and uses no non-genuine factory parts (e.g. aftermarket dials, bezels, or straps).
Brand New Condition Levels
Authenticity is verified externally by matching the serial number with the card/original box and original papers; the caseback is not opened, to preserve the original condition. If authenticity is in doubt, the watch is returned to the seller unopened.
✳ New
- Pristine and unworn.
- May show micro hairlines from production or handling, visible only under bright light and close inspection — considered normal, not a defect.
- Unpolished and never serviced.
✳ Like New & Unworn
- Unworn; may have been stored or displayed.
- The box may show shelf wear and some stickers may be missing.
- Unpolished.
Notes Regarding Brand New Watches
- Minor individual differences arising from the manufacturing process or material characteristics (e.g. variations in material grain, or minor process marks within the manufacturer’s standards) are not considered defects and shall not be grounds for cancellation unless they fall under SASOM’s Fail criteria.
- A Brand New watch must include the complete original box, original papers, and factory equipment as supplied from the shop. Missing box, papers, or equipment will result in a Fail and the item will not be classified as Brand New.
- All products are evaluated based on the product photos, description, equipment , documents, and information disclosed by the seller in the listing.
- Buyers are responsible for carefully reviewing all product photos, descriptions, equipment, documents, and seller disclosures before placing an order.
- By confirming a purchase, the buyer acknowledges and accepts the product description, equipment, documents, and disclosures provided in the listing.
SASOM Watch Inspection Standard
- SASOM continuously updates its inspection standards to facilitate transparent and fair transactions while maintaining an appropriate inspection framework for the watch market. Please refer to the latest inspection standards before proceeding with any transaction.
- All watches traded through SASOM are subject to inspection and will only be shipped after successfully passing SASOM’s inspection process.
- Inspections are performed by SASOM’s inspection team and/or watch specialists appointed by SASOM, based on product information, model specifications, materials, serial numbers, equipment, documents, and other relevant details.
- The purpose of the inspection is to verify authenticity, listing accuracy, product condition, equipment, documents, and other material information in order to reduce the risk of counterfeit products, modified watches, or products that differ from their listings.
- For Brand New watches, the inspection also verifies that the product is in factory condition, shows no signs of use, and has not undergone servicing or parts replacement.
- Where such information has already been clearly disclosed before purchase, SASOM may consider the buyer to have acknowledged and accepted such information.
Precautions regarding watches:
- SASOM performs an initial quality and authenticity verification as a marketplace intermediary. SASOM does not provide manufacturer warranties and cannot guarantee water resistance, timekeeping accuracy, or future repair costs.
- For inquiries regarding operation, warranty coverage, servicing, maintenance, or brand-specific information, buyers should contact the brand’s official service center directly.
- If non-genuine parts are detected or if any part affects the authenticity of the watch, the watch will automatically fail inspection.
- Conditions arising from manufacturing processes, distribution, or material characteristics shall not constitute grounds for transaction cancellation unless they fall under SASOM’s Fail criteria.
- For product conditions, model-specific characteristics, or circumstances that cannot be clearly determined under SASOM’s inspection standards, the final decision shall be made at the sole discretion of SASOM’s inspection team or appointed watch specialist.
Detailed Inspection Criteria

✳ Severe damage refers to damage affecting structural integrity, safety, primary functionality, or value, including cracked crystals, deformed cases, broken crowns, missing components, or severe corrosion.
✳ For Brand New items, all original factory/shop equipment (e.g. extra links, tags, adjustment tools, warranty card, and items supplied with a new watch) must be complete; any missing item results in Fail.
✳ Minor individual differences from manufacturing or material characteristics are normal, not defects.
✳ Time deviation within the expected range of a movement is not a defect.
✳ “Visible under normal viewing conditions” means visible under normal lighting and distance, without magnification.
